Last updated: 13 May 2026

These Terms and Conditions govern the use of services provided by Certificate of Compliance by Chris, www.certificateofcompliance.co.za (“we”, “us”, or “the Company”). By engaging our services, you (“the Client”) agree to these terms and conditions.

1. Services Provided

We provide electrical and electric fence Certificate of Compliance (COC) inspections for residential and commercial properties in accordance with SANS 10142 and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). All inspections are carried out by registered electricians recognised by the Department of Labour. We operate across greater Johannesburg (Roodepoort, Randburg, Krugersdorp).

2. Bookings and Appointments

Bookings are confirmed via telephone, WhatsApp, or email. The Client must ensure access to all areas of the property on the day of inspection, including the distribution board, all rooms, outbuildings, and electric fence where applicable.

3. Fees and Payment

Inspection fees are confirmed at the time of booking and are due in full on or before the date of inspection. Inspection fees are non-refundable once the inspection has been completed. Where remedial work is required, a seperate written quotation will be provided after payment for the inspection and no work will commence without the Client’s approval. Where remedial work is required the Certificate will only be issued after repairs are complete and payment received.

4. Issuance of the Certificate of Compliance

A COC will only be issued once the installation is fully compliant with SANS 10142. Where faults are identified, a written fault report will be provided. If a third-party electrician carries out repairs, a re-inspection fee will apply before the COC is issued. A COC is valid for two (2) years from the date of issue, provided no alterations are made to the installation.

5. Client Obligations

The Client agrees to provide accurate property information, ensure full access on the day of inspection, disclose any known faults, and ensure that any prior remedial work was carried out by a registered electrician.

6. Limitation of Liability

A COC confirms compliance with SANS 10142-1 and the OHSA on the date of issue only. It does not constitute a guarantee of future performance. Our liability is limited to the fee paid for the inspection. No liability is accepted for faults, failures, or damage arising after the date of issue, including those resulting from alterations, wear and tear, misuse, or load changes. Standard callout and repair rates apply to any work requested after the date of issue.

7. Cancellations and Rescheduling

Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled inspection. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur a fee. We reserve the right to reschedule in cases of emergency or force majeure at no charge to the Client.

8. Privacy and Personal Information

We collect and process personal information solely for the purpose of providing our services and meeting our legal obligations, in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Your information will not be sold or shared with third parties except where required by law.

9. Disputes and Complaints
